We couldn’t be more delighted with the fact that Rana Nazir and Kate Connor have pledged to make a go of things in Coronation Street – but as ever in soap, the happiness can’t last forever and there is one heck of a hurdle on the way.
We caught up with Bhavna Limbachia (Rana) and Charlie de Melo (Imran) during a recent visit to Weatherfield to unveil the new Victoria Street set and Bhavna’s joy at the passion of the Kana fandom and the opportunity to tell several important story strands as part of the arc was clear.
But she had a stark warning for us all – there is big drama ahead as a serious event unfolds and with recent pictures suggesting a kidnap plot courtesy of Rana’s parents being released, it seems she isn’t wrong.
However, while there remains plenty of hope that this will in fact make them stronger, there are other things to look forward to as well as more Kana scenes – as Imran will be expanding his business empire by getting involved in a new eatery opening on Victoria Street.
Meanwhile, both actors spoke with enthusiasm about the new set that has opened up and with warmth over the memorial garden which represents the spirit of Manchester and pays tribute to the victims of the Manchester arena attack.
