JEDDAH: For five days straight, Eid Season, under the umbrella of the Saudi Seasons initiative, has brought 80 different events organized by the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) to cities across Saudi Arabia.
The GEA has organized a number of special circuses in Riyadh, Dammam, Al-Mubarraz in Al-Ahsa region, and Taif, while coordination with a number of professional performers and entertainers from Africa, Asia and the Americas to put on phenomenal shows.
Many of the circuses staged in the four cities are internationally renowned for quality family entertainment, from old-school clowns to tight rope acrobatic performances, as well as vibrant light shows to please all who attend.
For many, the circus is a fantasy come alive. Returning to Saudi Arabia, Cirque Eloize, a Montreal-based contemporary company, known for combining arts, theater, concert and comedy, is being staged outside Nakheel Mall in Riyadh. Cirque Eloize was last staged during Sharqiah Season in Eastern Province in March of this year, and has seen 4,000 acts perform in over 500 cities in 50 countries across the world. Its return for Eid Season was met with much anticipation due to great reviews from Sharqiah Season.
Riyadhs Granada Mall will also host Circo Americano for five days starting from the second day of Eid, while residents of Taif will also enjoy performances by the famous African Circus at Radif Park.
Cirque Du Liban, meanwhile, is bringing back the Hollywood Circus show to the Dammam Sea Front, and is known for its acrobats, live performances and clowns.
Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of the GEA, announced last January a new ambitious strategy to position the Kingdom as one of the top entertainment destinations in Asia. The GEA also signed a number of memorandums of understanding with major global and local entertainment companies, to bring famous entertainment events to the country.
