Princes estate have dropped a posthumous album full of unreleased demos and fans are rejoicing that they get to hear one more record from the icon.
The 15-track album, which has been titled Originals, is made up of songs the star recorded before handing them over to other artists, and was curated by Jay Z and Troy Carter before being released on TIDAL.
The track-list on the record, which was released for the icons birthday, includes hits like Manic Monday, which he passed on to The Bangles, Nothing Compares 2 U, which was then recorded by Sinéad OConnor, and The Glamorous Life, which was released by Sheila E.
Jay Z made a statement about the Purple Rain singer, who tragically died back in 2016 at the age of 57, in a press release.
Prince led the way, for artistic freedom, for ownership. Hes one of the bravest people I can think of in the industry, he said.
He trusted us, not just me, but TIDAL, to continue his fight. Trying to help further that legacy through his music is an honor we couldnt pass up as an organization dedicated to empowering artists. This gives his true fans that peek behind the curtain.
