Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) has underestimated how difficult it is to deal with life in prison in Coronation Street. But he has already made enemies, something which has so far amused his brother and nemesis (David Platt), who gloated at seeing him intimidated and humiliated by his cellmate.

But tonight, things take a more serious turn when Nick is ambushed and David ends up stepping in to fight for his sibling. Knowing that their mum Gail (Helen Worth) has done a runner because of the stress they have put the family through, they get reflective and Nick finally agrees to admit the truth about what happened with the money and take full responsibility.

David is relieved that he could be out of the slammer by the end of the week and, in return, he contacts a deeply frustrated Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) to tell him that he is withdrawing his allegation about Nick being involved in the factory collapse; he was wrong.

With no police report having been made, this means it is unuseable and Imran is back to square one. But with David and Nick having made a compromise, the surprise Lady Macbeth figure of Leanne (Jane Danson) is about to throw everything into chaos as she urges Nick to stick to his original story so that he can be home with her and Oliver as they need him.

Guilt ridden, Nick takes the stand with David at their trial and stuns his betrayed sibling by claiming that, actually, David was the mastermind behind the whole theft. David is absolutely stunned and the judge deliberates the punishment for the two men.
